Meet the Headteacher

Meet the Headteacher

Paul W Wray  BA., Cert Ed., Dip. R.S.A., N.P.Q.H.

Welcome to The Norton School Humanities College Website. My name is Paul W Wray and I am extremely proud  to say that I am the Headteacher here at the school  and have been since January 2002.

As a pupil I went to school in Darlington attending what was then Eastbourne Boys' School, moving on to The Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College followed by three years at The College of The Venerable Bede in Durham.

At the end of which, in 1974, I   got my very first job in Bishop Auckland as a teacher of English.

Apart from the first three and a half years my teaching career has been entirely in this area in Cleveland, Redcar and Cleveland and now Stockton. I have had a variety of roles including Head of Drama, Assistant Head of Creative Arts Faculty, Head of English, Deputy Headteacher, Director and now Headteacher.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every job I have been lucky enough to have but perhaps none more so than the job I have now which is both exciting and highly rewarding.

I have the pleasure of working alongside an outstanding team of knowledgeable, hardworking, dedicated and committed people who, in my view, go the extra mile every day to ensure that the young people of Norton get the very best.

I have lots of things I am interested in, apart from school, including reading, reading about school,  reading about education,  trying to play the guitar, learning to speak Spanish, football, rugby, judo, music, and trying to get better at using a computer.

One of the many things I am pleased about is the high level of support we receive from the parents/carers of the pupils who attend our school. This very positive relationship will allow us to continue to be successful together.

I do hope that you find the website both informative and useful and a reflection of the kind of school we are.
